SIRE is thankful to be blessed with a fantastic staff. This month we would like to shine a light on an individual who brings happiness, experience, and patience to every lesson and meeting : PJ Murray.

PJ is a very busy individual! She is the Hockley Site Manager and an Instructor. She is a grandmother and animal lover. For over eight years PJ has dedicated herself to SIRE’s mission of helping individuals gain confidence and life skills through therapeutic horsemanship. Over those eight years PJ has grown in her abilities and multiplied the responsibilities she shoulders at SIRE.

Like several staff members, PJ started at SIRE as a volunteer. She kept seeking opportunities to grow and is now employed full time as a Site Manager. It is her responsibility to make sure everything at the site is running smoothly! PJ ensures that all of the horses are healthy and carefully trained to work as a therapeutic horse. She helps train volunteers and works closely with them during each lesson. She consults personally with each rider and their family to develop individual goals she can help them achieve.

PJ’s impact at SIRE is tremendous and we are so thankful for everything she does for our non-profit, our communities, and for Houston. One of the biggest reasons PJ loves her job is that she is able to see the elation on a rider’s face when they learn a new skill or overcome a difficult challenge. Because of the various challenges that come with her job, PJ finds a great deal of joy and satisfaction in her work. PJ’s advice to anyone interested in becoming involved with SIRE, “Relax! Have fun! This is going to open up a whole new world for you!”
