Media Alert -October Trail Ride and Run Benefitting SIRE’s Riders
SIRE Walk, Run, Ride-a-thon Supports SIRE Clients all Year
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 4, 2014
Houston
Calling all riders, volunteers, family and friends past and present, to support SIRE’s life-changing therapeutic horsemanship at the CGG 22nd Annual Saddle Up! for SIRE Ride-a-thon, Saturday October 18th. Trail riders can roam 40 miles of trails through 1,100 gently rolling acres at the family-owned, historic 7iL Ranch in Cat Spring, Texas.
No horse? No worries! Everyone can enjoy a barbecue lunch, live music, line dancers, costumed characters, bounce houses, a family carnival, petting zoo, and live reptile show. The SIRE Walk, Run, Ride-a-thon, Saturday October 18th presented by CGG provides fun while underwriting lessons for special-needs riders all year.
SIRE riders seek donations to ride at 7IL, where they also will tour a living history exhibit of horses through the ages. Jousters, barrel racers, ropers, a wagon driver and more will demonstrate the capabilities of their horses.
Also new this year is SIRE’s 1st annual 10k trail run. Race terrain includes rolling pastures, woods, and creeks. Looking on will be your bovine cheering section. Participants will join trail riders — on the different trails — in supporting SIRE’s clients. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to winning runners as well as those raising the most money to support SIRE and those wearing the best costumes.
Supporters and participants in the SIRE Walk, Run, Ride-a-thon have the satisfaction of knowing their donations provide therapeutic horsemanship to more than 300 riders a year. The power, spirit, and unconditional acceptance of SIRE’s horses have enabled clients to ride beyond – to leave wheelchairs behind, to say first words, and even to be able to experience the thrill of competing at the Houston Rodeo and Special Olympics.
