Tanya previously volunteered at SIRE from 2008 to 2010 and then again in 2012 before moving away. She currently volunteers Thursday afternoons and we love her happy smile and gentle way with all of the horses.

Tanya is married to husband Carlos, and has one fur-baby, Asher, their golden retriever. They have a “blended” household…Carlos is a Longhorn and Tanya received a degree in business in 1996 from A&M. Now that I’ve been in Texas long enough to recognize that this might be an awkward situation, I did ask how that goes in their house. Tanya says they have come to a nice middle ground of respect for each other’s teams! I was impressed as I know this can be a serious issue, lol.

Tanya loves gardening and all animals. She said when she started volunteering that she was going through a rough spot in her life, and when she would arrive at SIRE, it just helped all of her troubles be put aside. I think we can all relate to that and this is one of the many positive aspects of volunteering out here at SIRE Hockley. We are so glad to have Tanya back and look forward to keeping her around for as long as we can!

To Mike and Tanya and all of our volunteers, thank you so much for giving up your time to help all of our clients day after day. We appreciate all of your hard work!
