On May 7th, we will celebrate SIRE’s winning tradition at the 2011 Boots and Bonnets Charity Gala! This very special afternoon and evening will be a salute to the Kentucky Derby and to the horses of SIRE. We will also honor Richard “Whitey” and Nancy White for their long-standing commitment and support.
This year, for the first time, we will enjoy the gala at the Sam Houston Race Park where everyone will be treated to a simulcast of the Derby followed by live horse racing. There will be all the trappings the “Run for the Roses” is noted for: bonnets, finery and mint juleps along with a live band with delectable food catered by Two Forks Catering. No SIRE gala would be complete without silent and live auction treasures; the 2011 Boots and Bonnets Charity Gala will be no exception! The success of this annual event assures the work of SIRE will continue for many years to come.
SIRE uses the movement and spirit of the horse to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities. Riding a horse is a holistic exercise, integrating the participant’s body, mind and emotions. SIRE can truly boast of a therapeutic horseback riding program that produces positive, tangible and life-changing results; we cannot lose our momentum!
Please join us in helping SIRE continue its winning tradition of changing lives! As a sponsor of the 2011 Gala, you will be recognized for your philanthropy as a leader in helping those in the Houston area with disabilities. Thank you for helping to strengthen bodies, encourage learning and nourish spirits.

January 17, 2011 Dear Friend of SIRE:
We are planning a spectacular night of fun and fundraising with our Boots and Bonnets Charity Gala, including simulcast of the Kentucky Derby, a band and dance music, fine foods, auction treasures and much, much more! On May 7, 2011 at the Sam Houston Race Park, we will celebrate with SIRE, Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Centers’ annual dinner, dance and auction! This very special night is a salute to years of hope and healing through therapeutic horseback riding and related equine assisted activities for thousands of Houston area children and adults with disabilities.
Therapeutic horseback riding tremendously impacts the lives of individuals with brain damage, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, autism, Down’s syndrome, spinal injuries and many other disabilities. By using the movement and spirit of the horse, combined with the teamwork of the rider, instructor, therapist and volunteers, therapeutic horseback riding produces life-changing results!
