About
SIRE stands for Self Improvement through Riding Education. Incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in Texas in 1983, SIRE has provided equestrian therapy to children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities continuously since then. For several years, SIRE operated in donated barns and arenas until 1995 when a generous donation made a six-acre property available in Hockley, Texas. Five years later, in 2000, the merger between SIRE and Rainbow Springs Stables, located in Spring, TX, resulted in a consistent program being offered at both locations and operating under the name of SIRE, Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Center. In 2006, services started in Fort Bend at Sienna Stables bringing us to three facilities in the greater Houston area.
Services are provided to both children and adults with disabilities. While 68% of our riders are under the age of 18; we also work with adults ranging in age from 18 to senior citizens.
