A Successful Suds, Scenes & Secretariat
Through the generous time and support from folks like YOU, our Suds, Scenes and Secretariat event was a great success! We gathered at the Alamo Drafthouse in Katy last Saturday, January 26, 2013 to enjoy a fajita dinner and a live auction followed by the movie, Secretariat. We had almost a full house, raised more than $11,000, and had an all-around great time. A photograph of Secretariat winning the Belmont autographed by his jockey Ron Turcotte was our top auction item and the subject of a fierce bidding war. Photos are posted in our photo gallery. Clients, volunteers, and our fabulous photographer, James Pharaon, loved seeing themselves on the big screen in our pre-movie slideshow.
2013 Birdies for Charities is Coming Up in March

We are inviting you to take part in a promotion called the Shell Houston Open Birdies for Charity Program. It centers on the PGA TOUR event set for March 25 – 31 at the Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club. It doesn’t matter if you are a golfer or have never played the game. What matters is helping a local worthy cause and perhaps being rewarded for that gesture.
The Houston Golf Association is giving our organization, SIRE – Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Centers, the opportunity to generate funds from this fun promotion. We have no risk and receive back all donations generated through our efforts. The HGA pays all the costs of the Birdies for Charity program. Birdies for Charity is one of a few, if not the only, charitable program where each charity knows, with absolute confidence, that every cent pledged/collected through the program goes directly back to them. The HGA is pleased to underwrite all costs of the program. You can benefit too…and maybe win the Grand Prize.
Did you know that the pro golfers playing in the Shell Houston Open have averaged approximately 1,639 birdies every year for the past twelve years? Guess the exact number of birdies the pros will make this year and you could win fantastic prizes, including a new car.
The concept is simple. We are asking you to make a minimum pledge of a penny per birdie for every birdie made Wednesday through Sunday by the pros at the Shell Houston Open. Of course, you can pledge more if you like or even make a flat contribution. The minimum flat contribution is $20. Then as an extra bonus you get to guess how many cumulative birdies (a score of 1-under par on a hole) will be made this year and the person who guesses correctly could win the Grand Prize.
After the tournament you will be billed for the amount of your pledge written on the official pledge form. For instance, if the pros make 1,500 birdies and your pledge is a penny, you will be billed for $15.00, or you can also make a flat contribution (minimum is $20). It’s that simple.
So, either pledge online or download the Shell Houston Open Birdies for Charity form, fill out your pledge and help our cause. Then fax the completed form to 281- 356-9462, e-mail it to joann@sire-htec.org or mail it to SIRE at 24161 Spring Dr., Hockley, TX, 77447 so it is received no later than midnight March 25.
If you have any questions, call Jo Ann Trepl at 281-356-7588 ext 203.
